The courses in this section are carefully designed for students entering the project management field for the first time or students with minimal project management experience. Our selection of novice courses is based on the Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) and the APMG methodologies.

We recommend you complete the courses in the following sequence: PRINCE2® Foundation, PMBOK® (Introduction) and Microsoft Project. Students that meet the minimum criteria OR students that have completed some of the aforementioned courses may proceed to the Certified Associate in
Project Management (CAPM®) preparation course.

The Project Management in Development (PMD Pro) is an
internationally recognised project management certification with
components specific to the NGO / Development Sector.

We recommend that novice students complete the PRINCE2® Foundation course and once you have gained more experience you can attend the Practitioner and Professional courses.

The intensive 3 day PRINCE2® (projects in a controlled environment) Foundation course present students with a structured project management method. It helps you work out who should be involved and what they will be responsible for.  It gives you a set of processes and templates to work through and explains what information you should be gathering along the way.

The PRINCE2® Foundation examination set by the
APMG in the United Kingdom is conducted on the last
day. The multiple choice closed book examination is
one hour in duration and must obtain 50%. Successful
students receive an APMG certificate.

We recommend that novice students complete the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) introduction course. Once you have gained more experience you can attend the Practical Project Management course.

The 3 day introduction course introduces you to the project management discipline and familiarises you with the terminology and fundamental concepts of project management.

Students receive a PM Academy certificate of attendance on successful
completion of all exercises.

This 3 day Microsoft Project course is designed for project staff requiring to effectively utilise the tools and techniques offered by Microsoft Project. The course is based on a hand-on case study and students plan a project from initiation through to reporting.

A 20 minute multiple choice test will be conducted on the last day and on successful completion delegates receive a PM Academy certificate of attendance.

We recommend that novice students complete the PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) preparation course once you have gained some experience.

The eligibility criteria are 23 contact hours of formal project management training or 1,500 hours of professional experience in project management.

The 5 day intensive course prepares student with an understanding of the fundamental knowledge, processes and terminology as defined in the PMBOK® Guide. Students are encouraged to spend more
hours of self-study to adequately prepare them to take the exam.

On completion of the course students may apply to PMI to write the examination.
Candidates successfully passing the examination can add CAPM® behind their title.

Students receive a PM Academy certificate of attendance on successful completion of
all exercises.

This project administration course is designed for delegates requiring an introduction to project administration. It provides the theory, techniques and tools necessary to administer a project. A skilled Project Administrator will not only take the administration load off the Project Manager, but will provide a ependable support structure to the entire project team.

It provides techniques, tips and real-life examples to handle all aspects of the project
life cycle, regardless of the size and nature of the project.

Project Management in the NGO / Development Sector
Project Management in Development (PMD Pro) certification consists of a Level 1 and a Level 2 course. Each course is 2½ days in duration and includes an international examination.

The Level 1 course provides an introduction to project management
within the context of the development sector, where non-government
organisations (NGOs) manage their work through projects in a
challenging and often highly complex environment.

The PMD Pro certification has been developed with experts from
several of the world's best-known and highly regarded
non-governmental organisations. This certification is seen as an
important benchmark for continuous improvement.
