Project Manager or Programme Manager is listed as the 5th scarcest out of 100 occupations according to the National Scarce Skills report compiled by the South African Government during 2014. In addition, Construction and Information Technology (IT) Project Managers feature in positions 11 and 66 respectively.

During 2014, the World Bank forecasted annual growth in Sub-Saharan Africa above 5 percent primarily due to rising investment in natural resources and infrastructure. The Economist magazine called Africa “The Hopeful Continent” due to Saharan Africa being home to some of the fastest growing economies in the world; the improving business climate and interest from foreign investors; and transforming governments and governance.

PM Academy and International research studies have confirmed that more than 60% of projects fail. This African
growth can only be sustained by implementing strategic projects successfully. Implementing successful projects
requires Project Managers that have applicable practical experience, are well versed in project management
theory and familiar with latest international project management practices.

PM Academy, which is an emerging private higher education institution with a primary focus in the field of
project management, has developed and implemented since 2005; a strategic vision; to provide project
management training, consulting and placements.
